1. What is Gor?

The Chronicles of Gor comprise of a total of 38 novels (2026) and one additional collection of short stories by author John Norman. The series is written as a “sword and planet” story in the “science fantasy” genre, specifically known as “planetary romance”. They detail a world on the opposite side of the sun from Earth, a Counter-Earth, ruled by technologically god-like golden insect-like creatures known as Priest-Kings. The Priest-Kings are at war with another space-faring, bestial race known as the Kurii. Their battle is often played out on the surface of Gor through hidden plots and machinations to control the population of Gor.

Goreans have evolved over the centuries through the process of “natural selection”, or “the Survival of the Fittest” and with that being the case nature has created a species where men are biologically dominant. This fact is expressed throughout the social and legal standards of the many fifferent cultures across the planet.

The Gorean level of technology is kept to a period akin to the Ancient Greek and Roman periods of Earth history by the Priest-Kings. There are some exceptions to this though, such as the “stabilization serums” which allow Goreans to live for centuries, while retaining their youthful appearance and vigor throughout their lives.

2. GENERAL

2.1. It is compulsory to wear the zCS meter (available in the tent at the arrival point). The GM meter is allowed but not for combat.
2.2 This is an English speaking sim. All other languages are allowed, translator is optional. Roleplay it out!
2.3 The Sim rules overwrite your personal limits.
2.4 The Oasis of Lame Kaiila is a “by the books” sim. Gorean clothes are compulsory.
2.5 If no warriors are around capture and kidnapping are not allowed (exception: if the captive stays on the sim).

3. OVERVIEW FOR EXPERIENCED PLAYERS

3.1 You need to emote the use of weapons.
3.2 NPC guards are allowed.
3.3 Binding: three lines of at least ten words each.
3.4 Self unbinding: after five minutes with three lines of at least ten words each.
3.5 Slaves are allowed to heal and to unbind.
3.6 Beasts have to wear a zCS beast meter. Kurii are not allowed (exception: at the personal request of the sim owner)
3.6 Tarns are not allowed.
3.8 Lockpicking: two lines of at least ten words each.
3.9 No teleports with prisoners except at the teleport point at the arrival tent. Leaving the sim must be done in roleplay (emoted), otherwise it is invalid.
3.10 Kidnapping: a realistic indication of where the prisoner is must be left.
3.11 Rescue: one hour.
3.12 Death: three days (36 hours).
3.13 Suicide: seven days.
3.14 Anyone who goes “away from keyboard” (AFK) (leaves the keyboard for a short time) should not do so in the middle of the role play. Please “put” the avatar in a suitable place where it does not disturb the others.
3.15 “Out of character” (OOC) is not allowed to anyone except the sim owner, a moderator and builders. (Exception: inside your own house.)

4. COMBAT RULES

4.1 No raids except from tribes of the Tahari. There must be a valid reason. (Exceptions with the permission of the sim owner for special events.)

4.2 Every attack must be documented in logfiles, otherwise the attack is invalid. Exception: When both parties agree that the attack is valid.
4.3 Sheats must be worn or you do not have it, this includes hidden daggers etc.

4.4 Melee – ranged damage
Free men and male fighting slaves melee: Men vs. men 40% max, Men vs. women 50% max
– Ranged: Men vs. men: 20% max, Men vs. women 25% max
Free women melee:
– Women vs. men 35%, women vs. women 43%
– Daggers, fans, hairpins – women vs. men 25%, women vs. women 31%
– Whip – Women vrs men 35%, women vs. women 43%
– Daggers, fans, hairpins – women vs. men 25%, women vs. women 31%
– Slave goads, brooms, rocks, sticks, claws, and fists – women to men 20%, women vs. women 23%
– No swords. spears, axes, klaives, pole-axes, etc.
– No ranged weapons are permitted for Free Women. Exceptions with the permission of the sim owner for special events.
Female slaves melee:
– Slaves to men 20%, slaves vs. slaves 23%

NOT ALLOWED
– Any kind of Raycaster or no-friendly-fire technology
– Any kind of WoW or aim-assisting scripts
– Quick switching melee weapons to bypass the normal delay between strikes
– Dual wielding weapons (an off hand weapon that is a re-skinned shield does not count as dual wielding).
– Speed enhancement or any HUD or device that increases your avatar performance beyond SL norms or your weapons beyond specifications.

5. MERCHANTS

5.1 In the Oasis of Lame Kaiila the gorean merchants laws apply.
5.2 We do not like to roleplay with G&S trade goods – it is up to you. We do not accept G&S coins in roleplay (they are OOC) but it is your choice.
5.3 Trading with Lindendollar is not allowed.
5.4 The Oasis of Lame Kaiila and the Oasis of Klima are members of the Southern Trade Alliance (STA). The storylines, salt decrees and agreements of the STA need to be accepted by merchants of the oasis.

6. SLAVES

6.1 Slaves on Gor do not travel alone. Slaves must have a valid storyline if they arrive here.
6.2 Slaves may be punished by all free persons.
6.3 Slaves need to ask for permission to leave.
6.4 Slaves are expected to serve and be useful to free people.
6.5 Slaves whose conduct a free one displeases with good reason can be killed. Their owner will get compensation.
6.6 Brooms, frying pans and other household items are allowed for slaves for self-defense (damage less than 23%).
6.7 A slave who touches or uses a free man’s weapon risks to be killed regardless of whether or not the owner has allowed him to.

7. BLACK CASTE RULES

7.1 Assassins must have received training. Your avatar must be at least six months old and have also played in the English-speaking Gor.
7.2 All kills because of an OOC reason are invalid.
7.3 An assassin has to log everything that he has done to kill his mark and present the logfiles to the sim admin afterwards (at least three different logs with three time stamps). Only the admin can retrospectively declare a contract murder to be valid. The order and the remuneration (valid coins) must also be logged and documented.

8. NEW CITIZENS

8.1
New citizens have to decide which role they want to play. We’re happy to help if you can’t make up your mind. Castes in the Tahari are optional.
8.2
The OOC admin decides who becomes a citizen and who gets the right to a house.
8.3
Houses: Renting a house is only symbolic, usually 1 Linden dollar per week. Prim limit 50, ask the admin for exceptions. Please no kitchen in your private house – we have a kitchen in the inn. We have a public bath – bathtubes are not necessary.

9. OASIS OF KLIMA

9.1 The Oasis of Klima is part of this sim. If you do not see it: That is the idea. You need a guide (a guard of the dunes) to get there and the approval of the Salt Ubar. Only STA members know the path to the exchange point and Klima itself.

Very few Goreans know the way to the Oasis of Klima. Anyone who draws maps of the desert will be killed. The Salt Ubar and his warriors (Guards of the Dunes) control the trade in salt from Klima. Their names are not known, they are always veiled or wear a mask.

9.2 Women are now allowed in the Oasis of Klima. The citizens rules themselves.
“Things now,” I said, “I conjecture, will change at Klima.” I recalled that Hassan had warned me against taking a bit of silk, perfumed, into Klima. I had hidden it in the crusts. “Men would kill you for it,” he said.
T`Zshal looked about himself. Slave girls, in coffle, shrank back.
“We will need taverns, cafes, at Klima,” he said. “The men have been too long without recreation.”
“With control of much salt,” I said, “you may have much what you wish.”
“We shall confederate the salt districts,” said T`Zshal.
“You are indeed ambitious,” I said. T’Zshal, I saw, was a leader.

9.3 You should wear appropriate clothing that protects against extreme heat and sandstorms.

10. DRAMA

No drama please. Second Life Gor is not reality.
10.1 Only the admin can declare a roleplay for invalid.
10.2 Out of character is only allowed for the sim owner, moderators or builders.
10.3 Please do not emote thoughts. Others are not able to read thoughts and cannot react.
10.4 Anyone who broke the rules of the sim will receive one warning. The second time he is thrown out (ejected) or (permanently / temporarily) banned.
10.5 Talking tummys are not allowed.
10.6 Beasts do not talk.
10.7 Griefers will be banned permanently.
